Kay MacKenzie
Director, Business Development and Administration

Kay E. MacKenzie serves as the director of business development and administration at the HAVI. She joined the organization with over 25 years of experience at nonprofits in Milwaukee, where she began her career providing education, training, and social services at Centro Hispano Milwaukee. In her role there, she was instrumental in advancing the organization’s capacity to support underserved communities with English as a second language, literacy, high school equivalency diplomas, and job training that led to family-supporting employment. Following this success, Kay began writing grants and securing contracts to meet these community needs. Through her efforts to obtain federal, state, and local funding, she was able to quadruple the organization’s budget. Kay served on the statewide technical college system’s curriculum development, grant review, and client reporting committees and has held leadership roles in state and local literacy initiatives. With two decades in management roles, she has extensive experience building infrastructure in growing nonprofits around human resources, fiscal management, and program development and sustainability. Kay holds a Master of Science in Business Management from Cardinal Stritch University and a certificate in nonprofit management.
