The epidemic levels of gun and interpersonal violence in the U.S. are a public health crisis. To address the widespread devastation of this crisis will require successful collaboration between a diverse ecosystem of models with complementary strengths and focus areas.
A collaboration between two national networks that have developed models of care specifically for survivors of violence from underserved communities and are alternatives to traditional victim services—the Health Alliance for Violence Intervention (HAVI) and the National Alliance of Trauma Recovery Centers (NATRC)—this brief outlines best practices, benefits and challenges for collaboration between hospital-based violence intervention programs (HVIPs) and Trauma Recovery Centers (TRCs).
