Princess Fortin
Director, Strategic Planning
Princess Fortin serves as the director of strategic planning at the HAVI. She works to identify and create alignments across the different components of the HAVI work and supports organizational planning, development, and grants management. Princess is a public health professional with a focus on social justice and advancing racial equity. Prior to joining the HAVI, she spent several years working for the New York City (NYC) Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, where she implemented programs to reduce health disparities in disinvested communities. Princess worked most deeply on the topics of gun and community violence prevention and served as the Director of Violence Prevention Initiatives, leading program development and capacity building to reduce incidents of violence across NYC neighborhoods. Princess has a background in applying mixed methods to community health research and implementing community-based participatory approaches for understanding and addressing health inequities. She holds a Master of Public Health in Community Health Education from Hunter College (City University of New York) and a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology and Psychology from Temple University.
